Latitude 7420 and DA310 adapter working only on one USB-C port

Hello,

I own a Latitude 7420 and a DA310 adapter.

When I connect the DA310 to the UAB-C port on the right, the adapter is working fine.

If I connect the adapter to the left usb-C port, the adapter is working only if it is externally powered through the USB-C Port.

Looking at technical specifications, it seems that the 2 usb-c ports in the laptop have the same specifications but they are actually working in different way. is it a normal behaviour or something is not working fine?

Thanks, Maurizio

It is possible that there is an issue with the left USB-C port on your Latitude 7420. While both ports may have the same technical specifications, it is possible that there is a hardware or software issue causing the left port to not provide enough power to the DA310 adapter.

You could try updating the firmware and drivers for your laptop and the DA310 adapter to see if that resolves the issue. It is also possible that the left USB-C port may need to be repaired or replaced.

If the issue persists, you may want to contact Dell technical support for further assistance in diagnosing and resolving the problem.
