Dell wireless keyboard KB7120W constantly disconnects from Bluetooth

I've been using a Dell wireless KB7120 keyboard with Bluetooth connection to my Windows 10 laptop for around 2 years, and recently a problem has developed whereby it frequently disconnects from the computer.  It has a button that allows it to be hot swapped between multiple computers, although I only use it with the one laptop, and it has begun switching from the channel (i.e., PC I have it connected to) to a different channel.  I then press the button on the keyboard to change the channel back to where it was, and then the keyboard may or may not connect again.  Sometimes turning the keyboard off and back on restores the connection, sometimes not, and if not then I need to reboot the PC.  I've uninstalled and reinstalled the keyboard several times, but that doesn't resolve the problem for long.  The keyboard has fresh batteries.

The strange thing is the keyboard worked flawlessly for almost 2 years before this issue suddenly started occurring.

Any suggestions of what to try next, other than tossing the keyboard in the bin? I really like the feel of the keyboard and was hoping it's not a hardware problem.

If your Dell wireless keyboard is constantly disconnecting from Bluetooth, there are a few things you can try to troubleshoot the issue:

  1. Check for interference: Other Bluetooth devices, such as smartphones, tablets, or other peripherals, may be causing interference and disrupting the connection between your keyboard and laptop. Try turning off any other Bluetooth devices in the vicinity, and see if that helps.

  2. Reset the Bluetooth connection: Remove the keyboard from the list of paired Bluetooth devices on your laptop, and then re-pair it with the laptop. This can sometimes help reset the connection and resolve the issue.

  3. Update the Bluetooth driver: Make sure that you have the latest Bluetooth driver installed on your laptop. You can download the latest driver from the Dell support website.

  4. Move the keyboard closer to the laptop: Sometimes, the signal between the keyboard and laptop can be weak if there is a lot of distance or interference between them. Try moving the keyboard closer to the laptop to see if that helps.

  5. Check for firmware updates: Dell may have released a firmware update for the keyboard that could help address any connectivity issues. Check the Dell support website to see if there are any available firmware updates for your keyboard.

If none of the above steps work, it is possible that there is a hardware issue with the keyboard. In that case, you may need to consider getting a replacement keyboard.

Hello,

I have the same issue after upgrade to Windows 11. Can't make the keyboard to work via Bluetooth. It works normally with Windows 10 and with Windows 11 via the supplied dongle, but via Bluetooth - it's added to the devices, it's get connected for a second and they disconnects. Tried to update the Bluetooth driver, but it says it's up-to-date. Did you find solution?
