Alex Rover,

Your system needs Windows 8.1 drivers. Unfortunately, Dell did not create any Windows 8.1 drivers for this computer.

Alex rover,

You may want to put the previous OS back onto the computer since there are no drivers for Windows 8.1 and above. You can also search the internet for any drivers for Windows 8.1 for the hardware if you choose this option to keep Windows 8.1

Hey Alex rover,

No, it should not harm your computer if you can locate the correct driver for the hardware. Many users do that as well.

Alex rover,

If it is giving you that error then, it is not the correct driver. I doubt it will install if you continue.

Hello... yes i encountered another problem...i downloaded the latest version of the adapter....and it said it cannot install the driver...so i searched and found to manually update the driver...then i got a warning saying " if that driver is not compatible with my pc then either it will not work properly or it ll just crash" kind of....so i didn't proceed with it...should i go for it or not? Im really confused.

Just tell me...is it has to be 8.1 driver? Can't it work out with 7 or 8? Coz that laptop version is like 2013? Please?

Perform a clean installation of Windows 10 Version 1709:

https://www.microsoft.com/en-gb/software-download/windows10

Windows 10 Version 1709 should have all the necessary drivers inbuilt.
