FORCE10 S50-01-GE-48T-AC no console output

I recently obtained a FORCE10 S50-01-GE-48T-AC, and when I connect my cable to the console port, and try connecting with the default settings, I get no output in the console window. I am using putty, and a Cisco to USB cable, connected through a crossover ethernet jumper. I have also tried the cisco console cable directly connected to the port. I do not currently have a serial port adapter, or computer with a serial port, available to me. The stack-ID window displays no output, and the OK light flickers green. fans spin up as soon as the switch is plugged in, which as I understand is the proper response. When plugging a laptop ethernet port into any of the Ethernet ports on the switch, I get no response at all, no lights, no notifications on the computer. I have no idea what the previous deployment, or reason for removal was, this was given to me for free, would like to know if it's DOA, I'm doing something wrong, or I need different equipment.

Hi @Shimensoka,

Unfortunately, I'm unable to verify if the Cisco USB console is compatible with the switch. I may suggest getting a DB9/RS232 to RJ45 converter to check the connectivity. I'm pretty sure you had your putty settings correct, just in case, I'm putting it here for reference, page 17. https://dell.to/3JJ1N7u

I did some reads on the Cisco USB console, some users find it having difficulty too. Some verified that the properties are set to COM3. The rest, found that the cable is faulty.

Hi @Shimensoka,

I'm terrible at networking, but I'll see if I can help out.

It says here in the user guide page 16: https://dell.to/3D1ArXs to use a straight through cable. But before that, usually the unit is shipped with the console cable together with the switch.

issue is I got the unit secondhand, so I do not have the serial>RJ45 adaptor.
