Dell S6010-on not getting reachable from my network

I have installed 3 switches in series. all 3 switches are connected with firewall. IP on firewall interface is 10.0.70.1.
first switch is unifi whos IP is 10.0.70.151. IP is configured on VLAN 1 and 10.0.70.151 is pinging from 10.0.70.1.
second switch is cisco whos IP is 10.0.70.152. It's IP also configured on VLAN 1 and pinging from 10.0.70.1
third switch is dell. when I set IP 10.0.70.154 on VLAN 1 in dell switch it will not pingable from firewall 10.0.70.1

Hello,

What OS and version are you on with the S6010-ON?

S6010–ON ports include 32 ports that function either as 40GbE, or, using breakout cables, as a configuration of 96 ports of 10GbE small form-factor pluggable plus (SFP+). The 32 ports also include eight (ports 13–20) that are 40GbE quad small form-factor pluggable plus (QSFP+).

First have to determine if we are trying to use the port as 40G or if it has to be broken out correctly as 10G interfaces (show interface status), and make sure that the physical interface is up.

Once the interface is up, the port has to be configured as “switchport”, and then added to vlan 1, and vlan 1 given an IP address in the same subnet as the other end.

The Dell S6010–ON switch can have either OS10 or OS9 operating system, and there are small differences in the syntax

Example OS9.

     DellEMC(conf)# interface tengigabitethernet x/x

     DellEMC(conf-if-te-x/x)# switchport

     DellEMC(conf-if-te-x/x)# no shut

After that make the interface part of vlan 1, and give an IP address to vlan 1 in the same subnet as the remote end of the interface:

     interface Vlan 1

         ip address x.x.x.x/24

         untag TenGigabitEthernet x/x

            no shut

Hello Charles!

OS & version are
Dell EMC Operating System Version:  2.0
Dell EMC Application Software Version:  9.13(0.1)

I'm using 40G and ports are physically up. I'm pasting my current configuration below.

Hi,

I would check below steps.

  1. Verify Cable Connections: Ensure that the cables between the Dell switch (Fo 1/31 or Fo 1/32) and the other switches are securely connected.
  2. Ping Test: Attempt to ping another device on the network directly from the Dell switch. If this works, the issue might be with the firewall.
  3. Firewall Check: Temporarily disable the firewall rules for the Dell switch’s IP (10.0.70.154) to see if it becomes reachable.

We have thoroughly checked and ensured that the cables are securely connected. However, we cannot ping the other switch from the Dell switch when the IP is configured on VLAN 1. The ping works when we assign the same IP to the management port.

Hello,

Looks like the Dell switch has 2 links, one link fo1/32 connected to Cisco-2, and Cisco-2 would be connected to the firewall.  The Second link from the dell switch fo 1/31 connects to the second Cisco switch Cisco-1, and then the second Cisco switch would be connected to the firewall.

Is that correct?

Can you ping the  vlan 1 IP on each Cisco switch, if the Cisco is directly connected to Dell?

You should keep “ portmode hybrid” under each interface on Dell for OS9.

Is the default/native  vlan on Cisco vlan 1 and is vlan 1 tagged on untagged on the trunk connecting to Dell?

You can check that with “show vlan” on Dell and Cisco and make sure that the vlan tagging for vlan 1 matches on the links, and the native untagged vlan also matches on the trunk.

Are the 2 Cisco switches connected in VPC, or are they standalone?

If vlan 1 tagging/ untagging is correct from Dell > Cisco > firewall, you should be able to see the vlan 1 mac address of both Cisco switches and the firewall on the dell switch using command “show mac-address-table”.
