U2723QE, assign Ethernet connection permanently to a device when KVM is used?

Why is it not possible to permanently assign the Ethernet port to a device on a Dell Ultrasharp U2723QE so that the network connection on this device is not interrupted when switching the mouse and keyboard using the KVM function?

The U3224KBA model, for example, can do this:  
With this model you can also permanently assign the LAN port to one of the signal inputs - useful, as this means that the Internet connection is not lost when switching to another connected computer. See user manual page 78 (USB menu):

Wouldn't this feature also be retrofittable for the U2723QE via firmware update? After all, it is still a current model!
