U2421E, dual, unable to use USB on 2nd monitor

I'm using U2421E dual monitors via daisy chaining. I'm using a wired external keyboard attached to my 1st monitor and I'm able to use my keyboard. However, when I connect the keyboard to the 2nd monitor, I'm not able to use the keyboard.

How can I use my keyboard on the 2nd monitor via USB?

OS : Win10

@Mrye  The answer from Chris is correct, but for a cleaner setup, you could connect the USB-C port of the second display to one of the USB-A ports of the first display, rather than having to connect it directly to your PC. But the key takeaway is that a DisplayPort daisy chain only carries video, so if you want a USB data path from the second display to your PC, you have to cable for that separately.

You do not tell us how the 1st U2421E is connecting to the PC? But if guessing that you are connecting the 1st U2421E to the PC via the provided USB Type-C cable (C to C), that cable enables the USB A downstream ports on the 1st U2421E.

But, the daisy chain does NOT enable the USB A downstream ports on the second U2421E. See the online U2421E User's Guide, page 10 =

Based on that statement, connect the USB Type-C cable (C to A) from the second U2421E to the PC USB A port. Then test the second U2421E USB A downstream ports.

HI @jphughan , thanks for the reply.

Currently I have this setup for example,

And just want to confirm, based on your suggestion, in order for keyboard to connect to laptop via Monitor 2, the setup should be like this ?

@Mrye  Yes, that diagram you've prepared would result in a setup that would allow the USB ports on both of your displays to be used, so you'd be able to plug your keyboard into whichever display is more convenient.  Enjoy!
