U2414H monitor wont connect to XPS 8900 also not with HDMI

I bought the XPS with a monitor (U2414H) as a set, and all excited to use it, it doesn't work, the monitor won't connect , it keeps telling me "no display port cable"

I have my old monitor connect right now via the VGA port, first i thought connection two monitors might cause the problem, but i disconnected the old monitor and rebooted, but still had the same message showing up.

I read through the forums and saw advise to use HDMI cable, i tried this too, but still have the same message.

Can anyone advise what to do please

Glad that you got it working. For other users, can you explain what setting in the monitor you changed to correct the issue?

I would like to know the solution too. I'm getting the same message, and when I try the m cable, same error message.

Hey there,

I connected the Screen with the HDMI cable, and then when connected you still get the same message, so you have to press on the 3rd button from left on the bottom right hand side of your screen, then the display box as in picture appears, you need to then select your input source as HDMI, if you do not, your PC will not find the monitor.

hope this helps :)

Hi Luzi0902,

Thanks for your advice.

I tried this but it doesn`t work in my case.

With een other PC everything works fine. Maybe its the Intel 530 graphices or the Nvidia GTX 745 in the XPS 8900.

Perhaps someone knows something about that.

I`ll keep you posted......

The problem can be solved by simply switching on the monitor a couple of seconds before you switch on the computer.

Otherwise Intel HD Graphics 530 (in my case) will not run. I noticed on an other monitor, connected by VGA port, that it's not visible in the Control Panel nor the Device Manager......

Maybe someone knows how to solve this matter.
