U2412M - the current timing is not supported

I have a new U2412M monitor attached to an HP desktop running Windows 8.1. I am using a display port (computer) to DVI (monitor) cable. The monitor works fine except for an annoying message:
"The current timing is not supported..please change your input timing to 1920 x 1200 @60 hz"

However, the timing is set to 60hz and the resolution is 1920x1200. I have the latest drivers. Is it forbidden to use a Dell monitor on an HP desktop?

Thanks for any help.

alessiog,

is it forbidden to use a Dell monitor on an HP desktop?
* No.

We think the issue could be the DP to DVI converter cable.

Does your HP computer video card have a DVI port? If yes, test computer DVI to monitor DVI using the Dell supplied DVI cable.

You could also test computer DP to monitor DP but you will have to purchase the DP to DP cable.

Just to be clear -- I got computer DP to monitor DP and the problem went away.

Thanks.
