ST2420L, saving power

I want to de-energize the ST2420L to save power when the computer is in the Sleep mode. When I put the computer in the Sleep mode, the light at the center of the bezel below the DELL label turns to an amber color when the screen is dark and cannot be immediately turned OFF. It can be turned after waiting several minutes by swiping the left-hand side of the screen. My question is this, "Is the display de-energized when the light is amber colored and if not, how do you turn the display OFF immediately following putting the computer in a Sleep mode?".

You gave us the Service Tag for the out of warranty XPS 8300? What Dell numbers do you see on the back of the ST2420L?

The 2013 ST2420L is not a touchscreen monitor. So your statement here is confusing = swiping the left hand side of the screen

Do you mean the buttons on the right side of the ST2420L? The only way to de-energize the ST2420L is to turn it off using the right side #5 power button.

Dear Chris M,

I thank you for your reply to my question.  I was originally told that the monitor is no longer under a Dell warranty and I should present the the question to the Community.  I purchased the monitor together with the XPS8300 computer on 10/9/2011 under< Private Order number removed.TOS73> I have since replaced the XPS8300 computer with a Dell i5 computer but still use the original monitor.  I was going to attach a copy of the original Packing Slip that came with the XPS8300 computer but I see no way to do this.  On the original Packing Slip, the Service Tag of the 8300 is identified as the Service Tag of the monitor is identified as FSJ1A1111818 and the Service Tag of the Sound Bar associated with the monitor is identified as FSJ1A1111821.  As far as I can tell because the writing is so small, there is no Service Tag on the back of display only a model and serial number and the fact that the monitor was made in Mexico.

I know that the monitor is not a touchscreen and what I meant by "swiping alongside the left-hand bezel" was exactly as you interpreted it as.  My original question concerned the fact that the light below the DELL logo turns to yellow with a black screen almost immediately after the computer is put in a Sleep mode; however, the yellow indicator does not extinguish with the On/Off button but lingers as a yellow indicator for several minutes (this appears to vary and may very well be a defect in the operation of the monitor).  My original question was does the monitor consume less power with this condition.  As you correctly assumed, the monitor draws no power with the light Off but there is little difference in power consumption between the indicator being either Off or yellow.

Please withdraw my original question as I found the answer in the User's Manual of the monitor and no longer are in need of a reply.
