SP2309W 2048 x 1152 Resolution on D620 notebook

I've been wanting to buy the SP2390W 23'' Monitor for some time now but not sure if its compatable to my Dell D620 notebook which is an

Inte 945GM chipset running the integrated GMA950 GPU not the Nvidia NV110.

On the Dell Support doc the resolution support is stated at 1920 x 1200

However on Intels site the chip supposetly supports 2048x1536 @ 75 Resolution.

So i am quite confused at which resolution it really supports, lowering to 1920 x 1080 is not preferred, since i would be better off with a 1920 x 1200 in that case.

Has anyone pluged the new 2048 x 1152 resolution monitors on their D620 notebook and was able to get native resoultion?

Welcome to the forums :emotion-21:

Hopefully someone with the same notebook/chipset will be able to confirm what the maximum resolution it supports is?

But even if the monitor does support 2048 x 1152, it's unlikely to be at Intel's claimed 75Hz?  Most LCD/TFT screens are  limited to 60Hz?

However, that's relatively unimportant.

If the graphics chip doesn't offer the specific HD resolution for the monitor, PowerStrip will allow you to select custom resolutions :emotion-55:

It isn't free though, unfortunately.

That's interesting I've used PowerStrip really long time ago for gaming.

the last time i used it was to increase the Refresh rate on my samsung 21'' CRT , but i don't think it would allow me to surpass the limits of the video card.

Maybe only to surpass the monitor's default resolution drivers.

So I was able to change the refresh rate from 1280x1024 @ 75hz to 80hz for counter strike, but this was about 1% over the limits of the monitors Bandwidth.

I just researched today and found out the Docking station for this laptop can have a PCI video card attached, so there is a way to support this monitor if the 945GM chipset doesn't support the resolution. albeit another $150 in parts.
