S2716DGR, MacBook Pro, won't display consistently
I recently bought a S2716DGR to function as both a gaming monitor for my PC and as a 2nd work monitor. I'm using a 2016 MacBook Pro. I have a Thunderbolt display connected via one of the USB-C ports and the Dell S2716DGR connected via the 2nd port using HDMI via the USB-C Digital AV Multi-port Adapter. The S2716DGR is always detected and will occasionally display. I typically have to unplug and plug in the HDMI or adapter multiple times to get it to connect. After connecting, I can use it just fine for a while, but it inevitably disappears and I have to start the disconnecting/connecting part all over again. Sometimes it just never displays. Suggestions?

Dell did not test/validate the S2716DG on the proprietary Apple operating system or hardware. We can see on the S2716DG drivers page and also in the S2716DG User's Guide that there is no mention of the proprietary Apple operating system or hardware.
You should read through the S2716DG threads on the Apple Forum. If need be, start a new thread out there to get assistance from other Apple users.
