Monitor light blinking rapidly when coming out of sleep mode

I have an older Dell Monitor (1905FB).  Yesterday, when coming out of sleep mode, the monitor did not come on but the power light flashed green rapidly.  I could also hear the USB connection tone periodically.  Pressing power did nothing.  Unplugging power then pluggin back in did nothing.  Eventually, the monitor would come on (about 4-5 mins later).  This has happened every time it comes out of sleep.  I've read the other blogs where the monitors never seem to come on, but mine eventually does.  Any ideas?

Not sure I understand -- the monitor will not come on at all anymore.  Tried disconnecting from the computer, unplugging the power (pressing power for 5 seconds), then plugged in and pressed the power button.  Nothing happens now (no lights, no nothing).  I went ahead and reconnected to the with the Dell supplied DVI cable.  The computer recognizes that a monitor is connected, but the monitor still will no come on.  My assumption is it is now officially dead!

sdrobic,

What video card and operating system? Does the monitor always come on during the STFC?

Test video card VGA to monitor VGA

Did the self test and everything seemed to work fine (got the red/blue/green screen.  The video card is an NVIDIA GeForce with dual DVI.  Used an adaptor and connected to the VGA on monitor.  Same results.  Once the monitor went into sleep mode, when returning, power light blinked.  Eventually would come on.  However, last night, the monitor no longer came on.  I diconnected and hooked up a flat panel TV.  All works fine.  Monitor still will not come on to even do the self test.  I guess it was giving me earlier signs that it was about to die.  Will plan to replace the monitor.  Thanks for assistance.

Test the video card DVI directly to the monitor DVI with the Dell supplied DVI cable.
