Colors off on new E228WFP
I just got an E228WFP 22" monitor for use with my D620 laptop. Things that are gray on the laptop appear gold-brown on the big screen -- most notably, the area in Firefox that has the menu, buttons and address bar. I've fiddled with the RGB adjustments but haven't been happy with the results. I have reset everything. I'm using a DVI cable via a dock. I'm not doing graphics or photo work, so I don't need precise color matching, but I'd like the external display to be closer to the colors of the laptop screen. What I'm getting now is disturbingly ugly, and when I open up the laptop screen I can see how different things are. We have a few other monitors like this in my office, and they don't seem to be off in color. Is there a simple way to get the colors in the right ballpark, without special calibration equipment?

Test the laptop to the monitor without the dock. Any difference?

That monitor does not have a service tag. Remove and reinstall the PC video card driver and test it.

Can you test it on some of the other PCs in your office?

How do the red/green/blue/white colors look during the Self Test?
* Turn off the monitor
* Plug the monitor power cord directly into the wall socket to remove any surge protectors or APCs from the troubleshooting equation
* Unplug the monitor video cable from the back of the computer
* Turn on the monitor
* The floating red/green/blue/white dialog box should appear on screen against a black background
If still bad, get it replaced. If you have a service tag number associated with your monitor, you may use Chat or Email support to setup the monitor exchange. If you only have an Order number associated with the monitor, you must call in,
1-800-624-9896. They will need the following information -
20 digit PPID number on back of monitor
Name, address, phone, email address
Order number
Issue
Troubleshooting done

If not, I will have to ask my company to exchange this one. I've been living with this overly brown monitor for a week and haven't gotten used it it.
If the color can't be adjusted to be more normal (or more typical of other units of this model) I think it should be considered defective.

Get an exchange and see if it is better. If you have a service tag number associated with your monitor, you may use Chat or Email support to setup the monitor exchange. If you only have an Order number associated with the monitor, you must call in, 1-800-624-9896. They will need the following information -

My IT guy swapped out the one I complained about above. The second one is still brown, but it is better than the first, so I am putting up with it.
