Inspiron 3585, battery replacement
Hello.
I've been looking forward to replace my laptop's battery but was considering to get a larger capacity. Do I have to get the same battery capacity as the original (42Wh) or are there suitable batteries with larger capacity? If so, which ones?
Any advice appreciated.
Thanks.

The database only shows that the 42Wh battery is the only one.
To receive assistance from Dell chat support, they need to verify the warranty status and ownership. Then you must troubleshoot with them. Click the "Get Help Now" icon on the right to start a live chat session. If already out of warranty, click here for the Dell out of warranty offering.

Thank you for your reply.
The laptop is out of warranty since it's just under 5 years old, so I understand that I would have to pay for the new battery. Would I be able to replace the battery myself or do I need to take it to a professional?

Service manual has the details so you can judge for yourself.

Thank you. It seems simple enough. Do you know if I could replace it with a larger capacity battery?

I think that was answered by JesseL above - no. There's only one battery for that model.
