C2722DE, daisy chain to HDMI

I've just got a Dell C2722DE and I'm trying to daisy chain from it to a LG monitor (it doesn't have the exact model on it).

I'm using the USB C input and the DisplayPort output on the Dell and the LG only has an HDMI input, so I am using a DP to HDMI adaptor (specifically this one) and it is not working.

From some Google searching, there is the odd bit of advice that using an active (like this one) rather than passive adaptor would make it work.

Is anyone able to give advice that I am on the right lines, especially if someone has it working? It would be appreciated before I go and buy the wrong thing! Thanks!

To receive assistance from Dell Chat support, they need to verify the warranty status and ownership. Then you must troubleshoot with them. Click the "Get help now" icon on the right to start a live private chat session. Provide to them the private C2722DE Service Tag and all of your troubleshooting.

Per the online C2722DE User's Guide page 21 "USB-C Multi-Stream Transport (MST) Modes", the PC must be using HBR3(DP 1.4) to support one monitor in the chain. Open the C2722DE OSD Menu- Display info: Link rate (current).

Pages 49 and 51 only show the second monitor using DP in, not HDMI.
