hyper-v ODX on VNX2

Hi,

I'm setting up a VNX2 for Hyper-V.

my  first idea was to use classic RAID groups for active-active support,  add the fiber channel Luns to the Hyper-V server and create vhdx files .

my idea was that , given the enbler is activated, ODX would work with this setup.

However , the VNX video presentation on ODX and virtual SAN, specifically mentions pool LUNs

Microsoft on http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/hh831628.aspx , specifically mentions to store the Store the VHD on an ODX-capable iSCSI LUN

Can I find more detailed info on ODX prerquisites, because now , I’m starting to think that pool Luns (no active-active setup) with virtual fiber channel is the only valid ODX setup in my case (no iSCSI)  ?

thx,

Thierry

Microsoft Mentions FC as well.

The Copy offload in the Guest depends on Guest and Hypervisor OS Versions.

ODX works on the LUN Level, no matter if ISCSI, FC or SMB3. ( if on emc Datamover, it works on the FS level of the DM )

However, for VM Guests storage must be VHDX, iSCSI or NPIV

EMC Storage with Microsoft Hyper-V Virtualization

I would always recommend pool LUNS since you also want to benefit from Thin Provisioning.
