XPS 9320 Speakers problem

I have Dell XPS 9320, and on Ubuntu 23.10 and Fedora 39  speakers are not working as it should.

Right channel audio is played by left speaker (lower one), and left audio comes from other left speaker.

Thanks in advance for help.

While using Fedora 38 I had no sound output after the kernel 6.5 update. The device was not detected, resulting in gnome just using "Dummy output" in the sound panel. Now, on a new installation of Ubuntu 23.10, also with kernel 6.5, I do get sound, but in the exact same way you described (mapped to left speakers). Looks very much like a driver issue, not a specific bug of your setup.

I would appreciate if anyone would at least acknowledge the report and tell us it's being looked at. We are entering the Ubuntu 24.04 cycle, which will be certified and obviously dependent on this being fixed, so please don't reply "we only support LTS releases", so no one wastes their time.

I've installed Kubuntu 23.10 and have the exact same audio problem right now. The right speakers aren't used at all. It seems like the right channel is mapped to the left-bottom facing speakers and the left channel is just the left-top facing speakers.

Also experiencing exactly this issue with XPS Plus 9320 using Ubuntu 23.10 and kernel 6.5.0-10-generic

Only left speaker works. This is a Dell Linux laptop... Amazing...

Yes, this is occuring just after upgrading XPS Plus 9320 to ubuntu 23.10  and kernel 6.5.0-10-generic, only the left speaker is being picked up, tried to look for driver updates. Not getting those either.

Same here, just got my new 9350, my 9300 from a few years ago has better sound and bass, the new 9350 is unacceptably useless with sound.

Dell please get on this. This isn't 15 years ago when there was only a tiny linux community, these things need to be available.

Running Fedora 39.

Same problem on Ubuntu 22.04.3 LTS,  only left speaker working. When chaging balance you can see the right channel is being played by left speaker.

Same problem here. Using Ubuntu 22.04.3 LTS with kernel 6.5.0-15-generic on a Dell XPS 9320. When booting into Windows, no issues with the sound and therefore hardware seems to be working. On Ubuntu only the left speaker is working and the right speaker sound is played on the left speaker. Please update the driver. Before kernel 6.5.0-15-generic there where no problems with the sound.

Same issue on Dell XPS 9320 running Ubuntu 22.04.3 LTS. Only the left speaker works. Sound via headset works as expected. Any updates from Dell on this?

Same here: Dell XPS 9320 running Ubuntu 22.04.3 LTS with kernel 6.5.0-15-generic. No sound comes out of the built-in right speaker. External audio devices (usb and bluetooth) work fine.

Hi,

Same pb with Dell XPS 9320 under Ubuntu 22.04.3 LTS with latest kernel (6.5).

Solved by going back to kernel 6.2.0-39-generic.

This obviously need a fix
