screen dims

Why does my screen dim on my Windows 11 Latitude 5540. This happens whether it is plugged in or on battery. If I go to settings, brightness and touch the slider it immediately brightens up but after it goes to sleep it is back to dim again. Adaptive brightness does not show in settings

I hear your frustration about the dimming screen on your Latitude 5540. It's strange that adaptive brightness isn't showing in settings.

Here are a couple of things to try:

Check for driver updates: Outdated graphics drivers can sometimes cause brightness issues. Head to Dell's support site for your specific model and download any available updates.
Look for hidden display settings: Some Dells have additional display settings outside of Windows. Try searching for "Dell Display Manager" or similar software on your machine.
