My Dell only wants to record microphone sounds

I bought a refurbished Latitude 5491 (Win 11 Pro) several months ago, and in general am very happy with it.  I have a minor issue that's making me crazy.  I like to record streamed music, and have used a couple of different programs for many years through several iterations of Windows.  They don't seem to work on this machine.  No matter what I do I get room noise and no line audio.  My options in Control Panel are:  Intel Display Audio or Realtek Audio.  I can listen to music just fine, but it won't record.  Has anyone had/solved this?

You may want to research for utility tools that can capture and download the original multimedia contents instead of trying to record from playback.  That way, it will give you the exact same audio quality of the source streamed audio.

For example, an IDM plug-in can speedup and rip the contents before your player complete the playback.  VLC can separate the audio track from a YT video.

@Chino de Oro I'm not quite sure how I did it, but I got my old software to work.  I have VLC media player, but the record button does not function.  I've never seen it able to record on one of my machines, going back at least to Win 7.

Review the process for any mistake in settings can improve your experience with the recording.  Some user guide on YT  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qdTt82HTIV0

You can also use the 30 days trial of this extension plug in.
