Dell Latitude 7490 replacement battery compatibility - DJ1J0 vs F3YGT

Latitude 7490

Latitude 7490

I purchased a used 7490 laptop Service tag:<Private data removed from public view. DELL-Admin>and after some months of use I received a "battery is failing" warning from Dell diagnostics. The battery was flagged in the app as a type F3YGT which is 60WH, 4 cell 7.6V. On opening the laptop I find it has a type DJ1J0 42WH, 3 cell 11.4V.
The battery seems to have been touched as one of the mounting screws is missing. The larger capacity battery fits perfectly physically and the connector type appears the same. It is the voltage which concerns me. Can you advise whether the laptop circuitry will accommodate the 2 different supply voltages? Are the batteries interchangeable?

Thankyou

The batteries are both useable in that system, but unless you're absolutely certain the larger one fits in place of the smaller (on many of these systems the palmrest needs to be replaced or heavily modified to accommodate the larger battery), an exact replacement is a better idea.

@ejn63 Thankyou, I spoke to a support tech today who confirmed that the batteries are both suitable. The smaller one is installed in laptops that are mainly going to be stationary. I have now installed the battery and it is working fine.
