Black screen with flashing squares

Hi, when i use my laptop or start it it freezes or shows a black screen with flashing squares or the screen becoms black and i tried replacing the ram but it didnt work and i removed the battery and it still the same

Hold the D key through powerup, which will initiate a screen test. Does the same fault appear?
No: the screen is OK, so the issue is with the mainboard.
Yes: the screen is faulty.
