Windows Media Player missing decoder after HD replacement

I recently replaced my hard drive after a crash - all original software was successfully replaced.  Windows Media Player will not play movies - I get the error message that the player is missing decoder software.  What do I do?  Upgrading the Media Player from Microsoft did not solve the problem.

You should have a disc - Win DVD or Power DVD - that came with the system.  Install that software and you'll be all set.
