water damage...what do i do??

ok, so i was drinking water next to my laptop, and i knocked the bottle over onto it. i immediately unplugged the battery and took the power cord off and then let the water drain off the keyboard. i then took the hard drive and cd drive out. then i let it dry for a day or so, i turned it back on, and it seemed to work fine, my g doesnt work. i have to copy and paste it. my computer does seem slower...it takes maybe one and a half times as long to load when i start it up, and my hard drive is messed up. i did diagnostics and it gave me error codes OFOO:1A44 and OOFO:1A40 for the hard drive, and 2COO:0421 for a stuck key. and i also tried to install a big program, but it gave me an error and said that a cylinder had gone bad.
ok so this is my question: would it be worth it for me to buy a new hard drive and maybe a keyboard, or is there a risk theres something else wrong with my laptop.
i have an inspiron 600m...pentium m 1.5ghz...30gb hhd

thanks!

You got really lucky that you only damaged that.

I dont think dell would change the motherboard for you for a water spill unless you bought the complete care warranty i think.

it's a bit unusual for water on the keyboard to kill the harddrive, but i suppose it could happen ... new keyboards are cheap (20) and a harddrive won't set you back that much either.  remove the keyboard and see if the motherboard looks at all damaged (look for powder in particular).

As said before, it is unlikely that the hard drive failed, and you mentioned that the computer is slower after the incident, so it might be that the motherboard has suffered some kind of damage after the spill.

Just some of my thoughts.

Hey there everyone,

Um same thing happened to my dell laptop.  I spilt a glass water, trying to drink water, type a report and watch the apprentice, Yeah. The only problem with my lap top is that the Keyboard does not work other than that It seems fine. Should I just try to replace the Keyboard or what?  Also is it difficult to do so?
