Restart button

In the last couple of days when i try to restart the pc after windows telling me to restart it...it does not restart...instead it shut down...
Anybody can help me with this please

The start/restart/shut down is all controlled by the ACPI.  If this is a recent change to the way it behaves, and you have XP (or ME), use System Restore and look for a restore point called SOFTWARE DISTRIBUTION SERVICE 2.0.  When/if you find it, restore back to that point and see if it works.

 

Any failure that can be traced to less than 2 weeks can typically be resolved by use of System Restore.  Be aware though, to avoid using any System Checkpoints as nothing had changed on the system.  Like I always say, if it was an ice cream it would be vanilla.  You need a different flavor.

If i restore it to SOFTWARE DISTRIBUTION SERVICE 2.0

i will be loosing any programs that i have installed after that????
