Pluged in, not charging and AC adapter cannot be identified

Now then people I have a real problem that I am sure many of you have heard all ready. So why am I posting this question insted of using the many solutions to solve my problem? Well that is because I have tried many of the solutions and all have failed so now I ask for help from people who hopfully have some anwsers.

I have an Inspiron 1501 laptop. Now when I first got it I was stupid and left it plugged in all day and had it on high performance. The next thing I know the AC adapter burns out on me and my laptop dies being unable to charge it. The Charger was a 6w-AC Adapter Model NO. LA65NS0-00.  So  I order another adapter from dell, It is slightly bigger and on the back it says "Replacement AC Adapter" Model ADE90A.

So I plug AC adapter into my laptop and if I remember it starts charging. (not sure was a wile ago) and I get these warning messages about how my power plan was reducing battery life and to shop online for a new one. Few days later it says that the AC adapter could not be identified and to press any key to continue. After, on the the desk top the battery says "pluged in, not charging," I think the battery is dead so my sister goes on Amazone and buys me a new one.

I get it in the mail a little after Christmas and plug it into my computer and it says it is at 59% and "pluged in, not charging." It now says it is at 0% and when it becomes unpluged it immidietly shuts off, it is more like a portable desk top now. From what I gather from the website I have the latest Bios and deleting and reinstalling the drivers doesn't seem to help. Oh and the OS is Vista.

If I can not fix it then I will save some important files and just nuke the computer and put XP on to see if that will solve the prolem.

Than you for even reading this, Ethan

I had the same problem rang dell xps premium support and after about an hour of test's they told me it was infact the ac adapter that was at fault .Lucky for me my laptop was still under waranty and dell sent me a new one .

I dont think changing from vista to xp will help but if it work's post it.

PS. They could tell it was a faulty ac adapter by the serial number on the back if they know they have a faulty batch you would think they would recall them.
