my laptop screen goes blank very often

Hi,

I have been facing a problem during the last few months. In the morning after turning my laptop ON, the screen remains blank except that my cursor arrow is visible.  it takes a very long time ( may be 25 to 30 minutes)  to boot. Even after the screen appears and I enter my opening password, the screen goes blank again. Finally it opens up but I cannot work with the system. When I press the key for re-staring, the restarting message remains on the screen for quite some time. Yesterday, I could not use my laptop for almost 5 hours because of the problem. Finally, everything was fine and I am able to work. I loaded WINDOWS 10 some months ago and I get a feeling this is happening more often after I starting using WINDOWS 10.

If I press control-alt-delete keys on my key-pad, the list of actions get displayed on a blue screen giving the standard choice of task manager, The screen goes blank again if I press any choice.

Whenever any normal downloads like WINDOWS updates , etc. are in process , clear message appears on the screen and at least I know. The updates take sometime to get un-loaded and thereafter I have no problem.

I fail to understand why the system goes blank but becomes alright after several hours. Probably it tries to recover something? Why do I not get a message as to what the system is doing internally?

What action do I take to understand what activity is going on inside my laptop, so that I can either re-schedule the data recovery process so that it does not hamper my work schedule?

Any lead will be useful.

Hi,

Thank you for writing to us!

We would suggest you to back up all the data on the system as this could be a software or a hardware failure.

Also check if the drivers are updated .

To check if it is a software issue once the data back up is done you could reset the system to factory defaults.

After the factory reset if the system is the same kindly run a complete diagnostics on the system and make a note of the error.

Kindly private message the service tag and email address.

Thanks

Robin
