Laptop screen goes dark after a few minutes
Dell Latitude D600 laptop about five years old. Screen goes dark after a few minutes. I can bring it back
on by opening and closing the lid but it will only stay on for about thirty seconds. I checked the cooling
fan and it is running. I also went into the power options and changed all settings for hibernate and
screen save to "never" Still no luck. Can someone give me some direction or fix ideas.

To attempt to isolate the problem to either the lcd assembly or the video try connecting the laptop to an external monitor. If the symptoms occur on the monitor then its video card issue. if not then it is either the LCD, Back-light or inverter that is going bad.
