Laptop not detecting Hard drive

Hi! This is my first time posting on an online community. I really need help to find out what's going on with my Inspiron 14r 5420. Tried to surf the net for any possible fix but still no sucess

It's been showing up with Intel UNDI, PXE 2.0

For atheros PCIE Ethernet Controller v2.1.1(12/23/11)

Check cable connection!

PXE M0F:Exiting  Intel PXE rom.

I've tried changing the boot order.

Tried to Remove CMOS battery to reset settings

Tried another hard drive

Tried the hard drive on another laptop and appears to be working

Tried booting up an OS and it's still not detecting any hard drives.

Is this a possible problem with the hard drive cable? If so, Is there anyway to fix it? If it can't be fixed anymore, Am I able to get a portable hard drive and make it my main hard drive?

All help is appreciated.

Thank you!

That statement makes no sense -- look under "drives" -- if the drive shows up, the hardware is at least detected.

Did you make any changes to the system such as from UEFI to Legacy boot or vice-versa?

Does the system setup see any hard drive at all?  F2 at powerup to check.

If it doesn't, the mainboard needs to be replaced -- there's no cable to change, and no practical way to run the system without a working internal drive.

It just shows on the BIOS the list of bootable devices and it says hard drive on the list but it's not showing up the drive.

It's not showing up. On the main page of the BIOS on  "main HDD" it says none. I guess mobo is dead :(
