Help with Fingerprint Reader?

I just got a new Dell laptop - E5520 with the fingerprint reader.  My previous laptop also had a fingerprint reader and, once logged in, it would store and input any website username and password I authorized (amazon, ebay...whatever).  This was such a time-saver that I would only consider buying laptops with this feature when shopping again, and thus paid for the upgraded (backlit) keyboard on this machine expressly to get the fingerprint reader.

Well, it seems it only logs me onto this machine, it does not work on external websites.  Is that right????  Is anyone else able to authorize access to external website via a fingerprint swipe?  If not I just don't see the value in the reader with such a limited use.

And oh by the way, no one at Dell support seems to know the first thing about the fingerprint reader.  I had 3 different reps on the phone and they were all guessing - I watched one click on every Control Panel icon on my machine looking for it.

Thank you.

rckp,

I found this information HERE

There is an add-on called Fingerfox SE, latest version is 2.20.2. This add-on, in conjuction with DigitalPersona personal, will resolve the problem. In FireFox disable DigitalPersona extension. When you go to a website with a login screen, once you click the icon on the bottom right you will get the fingerfox popup. DO NOT ENTER YOUR CREDENTIALS IN THIS POPUP, instead swipe your finger on the figerprint reader which will activate the Digital Persona utility. Enter your credentials in DigitalPersona personal and they will be transferred to FingerFox.
