Fingerprint Reader - There are no fingerprints enrolled for this user

I just recieved my Latitude D630 on Monday. I can only get the fingerprint reader to work to get past the BIOS. If I choose the option to forward the login from the BIOS to Windows Vista Business, it does not seem to work. So I disabled that option and now when I startup Vista, the login defaults to my username (Erik R*******). So I swipe my finger and get an error stating "There are no fingerprints enroleld for this user." That is simply not true. I've enrolled and reenrolled my fingerprints many times in the Embassy Security Suite software. Odd thing is, if I click OK to that error, manually type in my username again, then swipe my fingerprint when prompted for a password, it works everytime. I've already tried clearing the TPM Chip in BIOS and deleting and reenrolling my fingerprints many times. I've also uninstalled the security software and downloaded the newest version from Dell.

Just a few facts:
Only one user account exists in Windows. (Mine)
I've tried the deleteusers.exe utility that has been mentioned in other threads
I've reset and reinstalled everything twice now with the same results.

Just as a background note, I'm the IT guy for my company. I'm no computer newby. However, I am new to fingerprint readers and this software.

Thanks much for your help in advance!

I have the same problem with my D630.  Did you ever get this resolved?

No. I never did resolve the issue under Vista. I did notice a few things however. If you change the computer name in Windows, the logon stops working. Also, if you change your account username it stops working.

I wound up putting XP Pro on the laptop and everything (including the security software) just seems to work better.

Sorry I couldn't help you more.

I have a Latitude d820, and it also experiences this problem. I have been in communication with wave systems regarding this problem, and their software engineers are attempting to resolve it, I will post if the issue gets resolved.

I have the same issue in Vista Ultimate x86. I love Vista, but this one problem is really upsetting me. The funny thing is that it worked for a long time! Out of the blue it stops working. Argh.

So they eventually called me back and said that it was an implementation problem with Microsoft, and they were no longer going to handle the problem. Something to do with the reader not initializing correctly (or early enough) or something. I eventually just disabled the windows logon, and use it just in the BIOS. hopefully a fix will come.
