Fingerprint not working on my Dell Latitude E6520

It seems that I'm not the only one with these problems, can somebody help me?

Running Windows 7 x64 and installed all drivers from Dell, there are no question marks in Device Manager anymore! I've even managed to find (!) the right driver for the 'Dell ControlVault w/ Fingerprint Swipe Sensor' device and that installed successfully.

After all drivers were installed I installed the full Dell Data Protection application (version 2.2.000003.009). When starting it for the first time the wizard pops up and I fill in what it asks me. When the fingerprint part of the wizard start it says that it didn't find a fingerprint reader (but I sure see the device built in my Latitude E6520, right to the touchpad). The exact message is: Cannot detect supported fingerprint reader. Please connect a fingerprint reader and try again. (RN: 02000051)

What can I do? Any troubleshooting tips?

Hi,

I suggest you to download different software packages for the fingerprint reader using the Recovery CD for the E6520.

Please follow the below mentioned link:

http://support.dell.com/support/topics/global.aspx/support/kcs/document?c=us&cs=19&docid=534821&doclang=en&l=en&s=dhs

Do write back if you face any difficulty performing the steps.

Thanks and regards,
