Can't switch display back to laptop (Will only do external monitor) 8500

Weird problem! I was giving a presention using my 8500 laptop a few days ago. It was hooked up to a projector doing dual screen (LCD on with projector on). The projector got turned off and then my laptop was shutdown. Now, after sitting in my case since the presentation, I cannot get the LCD to show windows! I can only use the laptop on an external monitor.

I cannot get the LCD to show anything other than power on (the lcd comes on, but only displays black). I tried setting my display to clone, which means display on the lcd and my external monitor but no luck. The Fn-CRT/LCD hotkey also does not work.

Any advice? Its got to be a bug or setting glitch somewhere!

Bumping this: I still have not solved this problem. I have made the laptop display the primary display and I run in clone mode. The laptop display just sits there with its backlighting on but no image. Fn-F8 still works but only turns my external monitor on and off... :(

check the plunger that turns off the lcd when you close the laptop, the plunger for the microswitch to put the monitor into sleep mode sticks in the down position
