If you are just replacing the keyboard, you can probably do it yourself.  On the left of the page, click on Manuals and look for the service manual for your system.  Keyboards are one of the easier things to replace.

What is the exact problem with the keyboard? If one or more of the key caps has fallen off, they can be smapped in. If the attaching pins have broken, you can buy replacement caps.

I have an Inspiron 6400

There seems to be 5 parts to each key.

A few of the keys have lost the rubber plug which makes the key read. I understand the clips and that the cap snaps in but what type of glue should I use to attach the rubber plugs and can I order the plugs and snaps from Dell?

Thanks
