BIOS update wrongfully flagged as a Downgrade
Hey all,
I've been trying to update the BIOS on my Inspiron 5770, having been neglecting it since not in use for a few years. I'm currently running version 1.14.0. I collect my .exe package from here, version 1.2.2, and run it directly from the Downloads folder. As computer turns off and restarts, I get the error message of "Update blocked due to unsupported downgrade". But it is not a downgrade. I can see with my eyeballs that it is a later version than what I'm currently running (1.2.2 as opposed to my current 1.14.0).
Any idea of 1) why it does that 2) what I can do to fix it and actually do this BIOS update? My laptop desperately needs it.
Cheers and thanks to whoever would get an answer,
Joan

1.14.0 is the latest firmware for your system.
Whatever the Dell download assistant shows, 1.2.2 is a much older release you do not need.

@ejn63 Thank you so much, I just completely misread my things I must've gotten lost in the too-many pages I have open. Really appreciate it.
I'm still repeatedly prompted to update BIOS due to processor fan failure, is there anything that can be done BIOS-wise, if I am up to date, or is it a matter of getting the fan looked at and replaced in its current state? (For reference the machine had a professional internal cleaning + new thermal paste done a week ago, but I didn't ask them to look at the fans specifically).

@ejn63 Man thank you so much, I must've completely misread my thing and gotten lost in the many tabs I opened.
I still get prompted to update the BIOS due to processor fan problems, is there anything to be done BIOS-wise in that instance or is it a case of the fan needing replacement? For reference I am not asking more of the laptop than I used to when the fan was not failing on me (and the failure mostly happens on boot) and the laptop got a professional internal cleaning and new thermal paste in the past week, but I did not ask them to look at the fan in action.
