biometric Fingerprint reader not working studio laptop 1537

I resently recieved my new laptop, when I started the computer the fingerprint reader software insisted that I installed a new driver. After updating various drivers on the computer the fingerprint reader bagan working temporarily. However, since it has been asking for me to install the driver again (I tryed repeating my steps last time but it didn't work).

When it asks me to enroll my finger prints there is no next button to click

Any help would be greatly appreciated :)

somms,

I have a studio 1537 after a week I starting recieving the reader not found message.  I followed the links you provided and have tried everything, different drivers for the authentec driver and also unistalling and reinstalling the digital persona application.  Including using the HP version and using the orca method you suggested.  I was sure to uninstall all previous versions of driver as well.  Do you have any other suggetions?   After each attempt the driver said it was installed correctly, but when I reinstalled the digital persona application it always says "unable to verify reader is installed" and when i reboot it always says to reinstall driver from dell cd provided....

Any help would be greatly appreciated!!!!!

I just upgraded to windows 7 on my Studio 1737 64-bit and couldn't get the finger print to work either. Said Digital persona wasn't compatible with 64-bit version of win 7. After, a couple of days of fixing other problems I  Inserted the disk again and went to E:\ opened the file and found a 64-bit install. Works as good as the day I bought it. After the install click on update and it down loaded the 4.01 windows 7 version. Reinstalled it  and the only problem that I see is Firefox 3.5.5 and 6 browser doesn't support  it as an add-on. It will install as an add-on but, it says it's not compatible with firefox 3.5.5.

As of the end of November 2009 (or thereabouts), check Windows Update for any "Optional Updates" your computer may have. One should be the AuthenTec driver that will get this working for you.

It is  driver dated 11/24/2009 and contains the driver and what appears to be AuthenTec's TrueSuite "Starter" which lets you enroll fingers and log onto Windows, etc...

ok i have been trying since 11/8/09 when i got windows 7 after installing my fingerprint reader would not work well after hours and over a month of trying i figured it out first off you need to uninstall digital persona from your computer then go to there web page  site under support they have all there drivers i don't know what  driver worked but i downloaded them all after that i went back to my dell finger print disc and reinstalled it remember if you are running 64 bit you need to open the disc and find the 64 bit first after loading the 64 bit i restarted my computer and wow it worked .....i hope this helps everyone

It sounds like you upgraded from Vista to Windows 7, otherwise you wouldn't have the Digital Persona software installed.

Even in that case, but particularly if you did a fresh install, I would still highly recommend not using any software that came with the computer or from Dell's site for the fingerprint reader.

Just use Windows Update to add the optional update for the Authentec driver. That will install official Authentec drivers and the official management application.

try a internet search (Google) for "Digital Persona Fingerprint Reader Software 4.0.1.3749_32 A" for 32 bit or "Digital Persona Fingerprint Reader Software 4.0.1.3749_64 A" for 64 bit, both has support for Win 7 and IE8.  It not dell, but it works

For updated Authentec AES2810 Divers (8.5.0.251) go to and download from the Studio 1737.
