Unable to enable Secure Boot on Dell G5 SE 5505

I am trying to enable Secure Boot on a Dell G5 SE 5505.  When I open "Select Secure Mode" it only gives me the option of "Audit Mode".  The BIOS also lists as the Secure Boot Mode currently being in "Audit Mode".  I've tried restoring BIOS defaults, resetting CMOS, reflashing the BIOS to the current version, reinstall Windows, and changing quick boot mode.  I've also tried changing the registery key in ""HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE>SYSTEM>Setup>Status" for Audit Mode.

Here's an image of what I am seeing in the BIOS:

Does anybody have any idea on how to enable Secure Boot on a Dell G5 SE 5505 and exit Audit Mode?

Ok: I ve done it..... but I reset the keys:......

highlight the

expert key management  and set it to

then

reset all keys set to

reset all keys

then Save and exit the Bios

reboot

look into the bios

now :

select secure mode  shows

now you can highlight

Secure Boot  an set it to

Then Save and exit !!

reboot

look into bios  it shows:

Secured Boot Database    < installed and locked

Secure boot status

secured boot mode

user customized security           < no

secure boot

select secure mode

and at least you can disable expert key management

save and exit

And here it was an lucky end

this helps me by a inspiron 5505  , maybe someone in future.... but no garanty

Best regards and good luck for all

That doesn’t have anything to do with the BIOS and Secure Boot.  What that link is for is deploying Windows images in an enterprise environment.

Any luck @givemeflac I am also stuck with the same issue. Once I switched to "audit" then other option are gone. I even tried reverting to older BIOS but also didn't helped.

I haven't gotten secure boot to work again yet either.  I also tried re-flashing the BIOS as well and that didn't work either.  The BIOS recovery mode doesn't work to reenable secure boot as well.

I'd suggest asking over at the DellG5SE subreddit.  They've been pretty good at coming up with solutions to fix Dell's mistakes with this laptop:  DellG5SE (reddit.com)

Just curious but are you in UEFI mode in the BIOS?

I have the same problem. Cannot change from audit mode back . So the Secure Boot is still on Disable...

@Aufsteller

As I said, mine is set to Legacy so I can't test it.

But from what you posted it seems to be Locked/Disabled. "Delete All Keys"

Sorry but I'm not sure what your next step should be???

U2

I set the Option

reset all keys

and do a reset

the option

delete all keys

i do not changed to enable! I thought reset is better and more secure than delete....

I can confirm that this works.  Secure Boot is now enabled again.  Thank goodness I’ll be able to install Windows 11 when it comes out now!
