Support Assist NOT working

August 2023 Dell Support Assist not working.

 

I have tried now twice on separate days to run support assist. Both times it get the screen attached for 10 - 15 - even 20 minutes.  How can I get this to operate.

If you're experiencing issues with SupportAssist not working as expected, we recommend starting with a clean uninstall followed by a fresh install.

  1. Uninstall SupportAssist from Windows. Go to Control Panel, then Add or Remove Programs, and then Uninstall.
  2. Do not use any third-party tool to uninstall SupportAssist. This should be the last option.
  3. Ensure during uninstall, none of the following are open. SupportAssist database, SupportAssist log files, SupportAssist UI, Command Prompt (with C:\Program Files\Dell\SupportAssistAgent\ path), Regedit (with SupportAssist path).
  4. Ensure that the following five Windows services are removed from Windows Services when an uninstall is done and started when an upgrade or new install is performed.

  • 5. After an uninstall, if still encountering SupportAssist installation issues, reboot the computer and try the operation again.
  • 6. Always download the latest version of SupportAssist from SupportAssist for Home PCs.

Solution does not work.

A new delivered G16 (including license Data Migration): from the start in march 2024 DataMigration is not availabe on the G16.  This week Support Assist updated itself, that is: it showed a message it was being updated. Since then, Support Assist is trying to initialise every time it is started. So i tried this soluiton : remove the Support Assist app, rebooted and reinstalled the Support Assist app. Same problem: keeps initialising.

What the heck is wrong at Dell with the Support System ?
