Replacing battery in 17 5000 series. Is it possible to upgrade to a more powerful battery?
Hi there,
I have an Inspiron 17 5000 series 17 5767 model. My battery is very poor, it happened after i upgraded my harddrive to a ssd but there might not be any links. However, i think it needs replacement/ improvement so i can work on the go, and i am looking at different options, but i am not sure what to go for.
my current battery is:
Battery. 42Wh, Li-Ion, 3-cell.
Specs:
CPU. Intel Core i7-7500U 75.
GPU. AMD Radeon R7 M445 (2GB GDDR5) 129.
Display. 17.3”, Full HD (1920 x 1080), TN.
HDD/SSD. 2TB HDD, 5400 rpm.
RAM. 16GB DDR4.
I can see that there are 4-cells batteries on the market which says is compatible with my model. Does that work?
Does anyone know how to improve my battery life, can i find a more powerful battery than what i have?
Also, could i possibly buy a portable charger from dell, or will my laptop drain too much battery for it to be useful (if u know what i mean)?
How does Wh impact life? Do not know how many Wh my battery has, but i can see there are 42Wh and 43Wh batteries (3500w) with both 11.1 and 11.4 V on the market for this model. Help, what does this mean?
Thanks in advance
JOcean

First of all I would not recommend buying a "compatible" battery. There are a lot of knockoff batteries that are of poor quality. Also only a Dell battery will work properly with your system as far as being properly detected and charging properly. The battery for your system is indeed a 42 Wh and the difference between 42 and 43 Wh is negligible. I am wondering how old your system is as a typical laptop battery life is between 1 and 2 years or 400 recharge cycles.
