Power Supply Failure not Covered Under Warranty

There are a lot of questions floating around about warranty coverage of power supplies/AC adapters and few answers. I spoke with a rep today who told me that AC Adapter failures are not covered under warranty because of "phyiscal damage." This means that if the cable fails internally, you'll have to pay for a replacement. The only coverage is if the electronics fail to deliver the correct energy, which might result in a catastrophic loss anyways.

Personally I find this policy silly because the quality of an adapter isn't the electronics (which do sometimes fail) but the cable's ability to stand up to normal wear and tear (which always will fail eventually). Given the lack of guarantee for the adapter with no external damage, and the fact most retailers will replace adapters that fail within the warranty period (physical or electronically), I will never buy an adapter from Dell. Also, I will not be continuing my warranty given my extremely negative experiences in the past, and no remediation for the extraordinary loss of my time and usage of my device (>1 month with getting lost in the mail system).
