Inspiron 5502, screen go fuzzy/freeze

I have an issue that is happening on a regular basis (roughly 1 in 6 times of when I use the laptop) and seems to always be happening when the laptop is moved and handled by my left hand holding the left side of the laptop. When I hold the laptop in this place, the plastic cover seems to be "'soft'' and applying some pressure on the components underneath. My grip is light and pressure applied is perfectly normal for handling a laptop. The pressure seems to be the trigger which makes the screen go fuzzy/freeze (see photo below). From that point, the laptop needs to be restarted.

Laptop is 6 months old and under warranty but Dell Support is telling me to forward the query to their "paid support" which is very upsetting to me. Anyone smart out there who have a clue of what is happening?

I like to recommend Dell but may pass...

Hi @Enlister069

It was a bit a saga with multiple parts changed (LCD, RAM etc...) and several technicians coming to perform the jobs. In the end a tech and I noticed that one of the keyboard key and case was a little bit bended (see photo). The bend was honestly barely noticeable but located exactly were I would apply the pressure to make the screen/system fuzzy. It got replaced and since then I have not see the issue at all!

See on the photo the F1 key (second from the first line) is popping up a little bit.unnamed.jpg

I know that you have tried reinstalling the graphics driver, but it would be worth determining if this is the problem.  A quick way to determine this set the computer to boot into Safe Mode.  Safe Mode uses a limited number of drivers and files.  In Safe Mode the graphics driver used is a native Windows driver.  This will allow the graphics to operate without using the specific driver provided by the manufacturer.  When you use this driver and the problem doesn't persist you will know that this is driver related.  If the problem persists, this is an indication that there may be a problem with the dedicated graphics card.

To boot into Safe Mode go to Search and type in msconfig, click on it when you see it appear.

When System Configuration opens tap/click on the Boot tab.

When the Boot section opens click on Safe boot in the Boot options.

Click/tap on Apply, then OK.

You will receive a message asking you if you wish to restart the computer, click/tap on Restart.

The computer will now boot into safe mode.

When you are finished in Safe Mode, reopen the System Configuration and remove the check in the Safe boot box, then restart your computer.

Thanks for your response. I followed your instructions and the issue is happening in safe mode (see photos below)

Machine doesn't seem to have any physical damage, I am not sure what Logic are Dell support techs putting in behind. Call and escalate, there has to be a visible physical damage on Machine. Liquid spillage for them call it out of warranty.

Problem is clearly hardware, (Most Probably a Loose LVDS cable)

If you are good with a screw driver.

Please RESEAT the cable connecting Motherboard to LCD

I have the same 100% identical problem !
What did you do about it and how is it now ?

My dell 5502 is also just 6/8 months old now and when I handed it over to agents, they replaced the LCD of my computer but the problem still remains.

And when I shake the laptop strongly something on the right side Palmerston area starts moving :’(

I am also facing the same problem. Moreover, when I have 10+ chrome tabs opened, it freezes anytime in the middle of work.
