Goes to Lock Screen In 5 Minutes

Inspiron 15 3510

Inspiron 15 3510

I did query Dell support on this issue. Unfortunately, for ALL OF US the FIX is extremely technical.  Dell support emailed me back a list of about 15 procedure steps which would involve reworking the entire operating system to stop my computer from auto locking itself.  After 5 minutes, with no activity, the screen locks and a necessary password is required to unlock.  I am really sick of this and feel that Dell should never have placed such a control on any computer because if an owner wishes to regulate the battery/electric usage of their screens, then they are able to do so on the Microsoft Control Panel of options.  The fact that Dell personnel took it upon themselves to place an auto-lock screen on any of our computers is beyond what is respectful toward a customer.  I never tried the 'remedy' for fear the entire computer would then start having multiple problems.  I just wanted to let you all know.  SAD.

5 minutes is a Windows default, not Dell.

Right-click on the desktop, personalize/personalization, screen and sleep,  when plugged in ...

Simply change the setting to the time of your choice (or no lock at all).
