G16 fans always running fast

I have a brand new G16 and just started to add some games, as you do. But whilst gaming the fans run constantly and at a very high speed. I have to turn the graphics specs of the game right down to slow the fans down and also limit the fps which is the exact opposite of what I thought I would be doing after buying a Dell gaming laptop. I sit it on a completely flat surface but it gets uncomfortably hot to touch and I'm beginning to think somethings not right. Sometime the fans startup whilst watching youtube??

Is it me being a noob or is this normal? TIA
