Dell Inspiron 15 3567 acting weird
Hello, I have a Dell Inspiron 15 laptop that recently started acting up
I had replaced the battery a few weeks ago.
When the laptop is idling with the screen off, the hard drive will turn off and spin up again immediately, make a click sound, and turn off again in a loop until I move the mouse to wake it up.
Soon after, I heard the hard drive make a beep-ish sound and the whole computer shut off. After turning it on, it happened again later. I noticed that the hard drive's area got very hot as well.
Sometimes, the computer takes about 2-4 minutes to get from the DELL boot screen to the lock screen. The mouse cursor also shows sometimes when on that screen.
Is the hard drive failing, or is there another problem? Thanks.
Here is a video I recorded, the light is the hard drive light. If you listen closely, you can here the symptom: https://streamable.com/xswegt

Run diagnostics, F12 at boot, and watch for any drive errors.

If the drive is original to the system, it's about six years old -- beyond its design life by at least a year.
However, the heat issue could be dried out thermal pads and dust accumulation. Has the system ever been internally cleaned and had the thermal pads replaced? if not, that's overdue.

@ejn63 The system hasn't been cleaned internally and thermal pads haven't been replaced. Where can I get that done?

Any local computer shop can do the work for whatever an hour's labor cost in your location.

Ok, I'll try the diagnostics first and see what it says.
