Need some help with single HDMI port --> dual monitors/extended display
My computer is Dell - Inspiron Desktop - AMD Ryzen 7 1700 - 16GB Memory - AMD Radeon RX 580 - 1TB Hard Drive - Recon Blue.

It has 1 HDMI port on the back, but I'd like to use my 2 monitors with an extended display. One monitor is an HP W 2072a. It connects to the splitter or the CPU with a DVI to HDMI adapter. The other monitor is an HP 2081d. It connects to the splitter or the CPU with a VGA to HDMI adapter.
I was told I needed an HDMI splitter, so I purchased this:
https://www.firefold.com/splitter-hdmi-4k
Each monitor works fine when plugged into the single HDMI port in the back of the computer. When I plug in both to the splitter, however, I get a grainy, washed-out pic only on one monitor along with the message "Input signal out of range -- change settings to 1600 x 900 -- 60 Hz."
However, the settings for both monitors are ALREADY on 1600x900 pixels and 60 Hz, so I'm not sure what the problem is. Any help?

Use the display port for one of the monitors instead. Get a display port to hdmi cable(or whatever the monitor requires)

Well, first of all, this is NOT what you want to use.
In the Home Theater and HDTV world (for which the HDMI port is truly designed for) ... a "HDMI Splitter" just duplicates signals ... you see the same Image on both displays.
To run two monitors on a computer, you connect each monitor to a separate video port.
If your Inspiron has a dedicated AMD Radeon RX 580 in a slot, then there should be at least two usable video ports on it.
