Invalid Configuration Information

Just recently on starting up my computer lands on a white screen with 'Time of day not set - please run SETUP program.  And 'Invalid configuration information' - please run SETUP program.  I have three options 'Continue', 'BIOS-setup' or 'Diagnostics'.  If I press continue the computer then starts up normally.  I have run 'Diagnostics' and everything is ok.  'BIOS Setup' takes me to 'Restore settings' and if I click this I get the warning sign 'Load all system settings?  Current settings will be lost'.  What should I do?  And what will I lose.  I've also noticed that the little white power-on light flashes and then flashes red three times - consistently. I'm not very computer savvy so hoping someone can guide me!  The computer is just over two years old.  Thank you

System CMOS battery may have been depleted.  It serves as backup power to your system BIOS firmware.  The computer may have been disconnected from main power frequently and therefore, used up all backup power and depleted the battery.  Without power, the value of BIOS settings has reverted to default, which may have mismatch settings with your system hardware, causing the error message.

You need to replace the coin cell battery with a fresh new batter.  Possibly a CR2032.  Go to Dell support site and search for your specific computer documentation and follow the service manual for instruction of battery removal/installation.

Once you have the new battery installed, you can reset your BIOS settings to match with your system hardware configurations.

On start up, with option from error message screen, you can select BIOS setup, reset all value to default, save and reboot.  If any error message still comes up, there is certain hardware settings needing correction.

Glad to hear that the new coin cell battery could resolved the LED error codes.  If you still need further help, provide specific system info and the actual error message or screenshot of BIOS settings screen(s).  Do not post or include any personal info such as your system service tag on this public forum.

@Chino de Oro Thank you Chino. I've just replaced the battery and now I have a steady white power light, and no flashing red lights.  Good so far!  So now, you say I can reset my BIOS settings to match with my system hardware configurations. Is that straightforward?  As I'm not experienced.

On start up the white page still appears, so do I click on 'BIOS-set-up'?  And then what?

@Chino de Oro On starting up today my computer started normally and efficiently, with no error page.  And everything appears ok.  Thank you so much for the advice.
