Booting into the domain using imageassist

Greetings,

This might have more to do with the machine than with image assist but here it goes.  We have the Latitude 7400's (not 2 in 1) coming and they do not have a on-board Ethernet port, but my team will connect to Ethernet via a USB-C to Ethernet dongle.  The machine can't see the network upon boot-up to allow Image Assist do it's thing.   We have no issue if we use a thunderbolt dock, it happens only with the dongle.  The Thunderbolt to boot in the Bios is selected but I don't think that anything to with it that's mainly for PXE.   Anyone have any suggestions?

@shawnperkins

It's possible the USB drive is missing drivers for the dongle you're using. We released a new version of ImageAssist yesterday which includes updated WinPE drivers. Try recreating your drive with the latest version of DIA . If that doesn't do the trick, there's a method to inject WinPE drivers into the USB drive during its creation.

How to include additional WinPE drivers in the Dell ImageAssist USB Drive or AutoCapture Environment:

The ImageAssist installer can be run with an /add_drivers switch which will create a folder "__Additional_Drivers__" in the install directory C:\Program Files\Dell\ImageAssist. Any drivers added to this folder will be injected into the boot.wim for the following tools:

  • USB Creator Tool
  • Auto Capture Prep Tool

Reference the "Need additional drivers?" article which provides more driver options.

Best,

Tyler
