not able to detect LUN's
what all information do we need from Storage Admin to create new disk. the storage is from two clariions, with different LUN ID's. Environment is a Sun Cluster.
Storage was already provisioned before from these array. How to get Host id from the LUN ID's. In powermt output the luns are active and alive but hardware paths are unknown.

Please see Primus solution emc128873:
mv /etc/powermt.custom /etc/powermt.custom.backup
mv /kernel/drv/emcp.conf /kernel/drv/emcp.conf.backup
touch /kernel/drv/emcp.conf
devfsadm -C
powermt config
powercf -q (This will rebuild the Powerpath logical links)
powermt display dev=all
If the paths are no longer unknown run 'powermt save'
This can all be performed online, let us know how it goes...

Are you using the Leadville HBA driver that is bundled with Solaris10?
If so you can assume that the ctf number of the LUNs will correspond as follows
cXtYdZ
Where X is the instance of the HBA (c1, c2, c3...)
Y is the WWPN of the CLARiiON SP
Z is the Host Lun ID of the LUN assigned to this storage group.
if this does not answer your question can you be more specific?
Thanks

Thanks for this info. but only a storage admin can only see this info right. I was asking about a System Admin. who doesnt have access to the array at all. but he can see the luns which we allocate to him.
Is there any way to know host id from using inq or navicli from the host end?
what all commands can he issues from navicli? because we use navicli to bind LUN, create Storage group. Will he able to do that?
What is the difference between the navicli that we use in management station and the navicli in the host?
Thanks
HuLk.

it's the same navicli that you use for your management so if you do not trust your System admin ..you might want to look into using navissecli only. Then you can setup a navisphere account for him where he can only query the array but not make any changes.

host id thats where the ctd comes from, convert this number from decimal to octal to get the TD of CTD.
example 45 converted to octal = 55 or t5d5
helped(?)
