Is this a bug in SYMCLI 6.4/6.5? symaudit output
Hi,
While using the 'symaudit' command with the '-symdev ' the output show irrelevant and incorrect information.
Following example show the output from the 'symaudit list -sid xxx -start_date 03/30/08 -symdev 0BA0:0BA0 -v' command. However in the output there's no data concerning the 0BA0 device:
# symaudit list -sid xxx -start_date 03/30/08 -symdev 0BA0:0BA0 -v

This behavior is seen with other devices, and same output on different servers with symcli 6.4.0.0, 6.4.3.0, and 6.5.0.0. 'symcfg discover' command is issued before checking this.
I just checked with a server using SYMCLI 6.3.1.1, and it seems to give the correct info.
Thanks,
Maxim.

line).
Is putting hostnames in the post OK? (also
appears).
Hostnames are "safe" .. as long as your DNS does not resolve them from outside .. And I hope your DNS does not resolve internal names from outside
The sid is no more visible

We apologize for the inconvenience.
It's not critical, so I'll wait.
P.S. the sid is still visible in my first post (3rd line).

I've got consistent results between all tested S.E. versions ..
I tested 6.5.0, 6.4.0, 6.3.1 .. And all three versions gave the same (and correct) results.
I used either symdev 1087 and 108E (that are the meta head and a meta member) .. And symaudit -start_date xxx -symdev www always picked up the same rows from all three different hosts. Selected rows were all related to the supplied device (it was an RDF activity but I suspect it doesn't mind).
As per my findings it looks good .. Maybe the issue is with the output. When symaudit formats the ranges in the output, they are all overlapped. I suspect that the bug may be in the output, not in the events retrived from the storage.

For example, if you used the 1087 device, try creating a clone session between any device in range of 0000:1086 as a source dev and clone it to any device in range of 1088:FFFF ( ). take a device like 555 and clone it to 108e you've mentioned before. Now run symaudit list -symdev 1087 -sid XXX and see if the clone event pops. If it's the same behavior as in my box it will happen to you too.
Ok? Thanks.

I actually wanted to make a symaudit test that should not make any results.
For example: You made a clone between 1087 and 108f. (hopefully they are not meta head devices, but a single hyper device.)
Now I wish you to find a device that's between 1087 and 108f (like 108e...) that was NOT a part of the clone! Let me know what symaudit output you get on that dev.
Sorry for making you make all those tests
Thanks,
Maxim.

I think I'll file a bug against SE.
Using S.E: 6.4 I cloned a small device to another small device. There are other devices in between (and no meta at all)

Cloning took a few seconds (very small devices) so I've been able to create, activate and recreate in a snap
Here are the results...
