New seagate hard drive 6To and powervault md3600i

Hello,

We own a powervault md3600i and we are considering to buy new hard drives to expand its capacity

We recently came across this model : http://www.seagate.com/fr/fr/internal-hard-drives/enterprise-hard-drives/hdd/enterprise-capacity-3-5-hdd/#specs

It's a Seagate sas 6To hard drive

We were wondering if current firmware could support such disks. and if not is it planned in a future firmware version ?

Thanks for your replies

Hello jtetillon,

The current latest firmware for the MD3600i will not be able to support those drives. Also those drives have a 12GB SAS connection & the MD3600i only has 6GB connections for the drives. Now our newer MD34xx & MD38xx have the 12GB connections but currently those drives are not supported on the latest firmware as well.

I would say that if those drives were to be supported it would be on or MD34xx &MD38xx systems but I am not sure in which version of firmware that will be released on.

Please let us know if you have any other questions.
